The Board is responsible for establishing required operating guidelines and policies, as well as the overall direction of ULC and its key initiatives. The Board shall have up to fifteen and not fewer than five members. The Board receives no compensation other than reimbursement for reasonable expenses. Generally, Board members serve three-year terms, and are eligible for re-election. There are four officers of the Board consisting of a Chairman of the board, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Currently, the Board consists of nine members and shall always be of an odd number. The Board currently consists of Executive, Administrative, Finance, Strategic Planning, Fundraising, Program Development, Public Relations, Technology and Innovations and Foreign Relations. Membership Committees and Library Development and other committees shall be formed at a later time. In addition to the Board and administration, ULC will develop a team of site-based volunteers to staff the fledgling resource centre in its initial stages and until funding can be developed to staff the resource centre professionally. The volunteers will catalogue materials, maintain the location, receive visitors to the resource centre, distribute resource centre cards to users, and other duties as needed.
